Asus Launches Ultra Slim Laptop Zenbook

The Apple Mac Book Air finally has a competitor, the all new Zenbook UX31E by Asus. Asus launched the Zenbook UX31E on Thursday November 24, 2011 in India at a price tag of Rs. 89,999/- (US$ 1,700/-). The Zenbook UX31E is the latest entrant in the ultra slim ultraportable laptop category. The Zenbook UX31E weighs a mere 1.4kg and is just 0.67 inch thick at its thickest point.

 

The Zenbook’s specs make it an ultimate desktop replacement laptop. At the heart of this ultrabook is Intel’s Core i7 1.7GHz processor with 2.9GHz turbo boost. The Zenbook sports 4GB RAM and a 256GB hard drive all enclosed within a unibody design made up of aluminum. The Zenbook has a 13.3 inches display capable of 1600 x 900 pixel maximum resolution.
The ultra portable laptop comes with a 50Whr non user replaceable battery which promises 10 days standby time and 7 hours of work time. Amongst the other list of features is a 0.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, SD card reader, mini VGA port, microHDMI port, a USB 3.0 port and Bang & Olufsen speakers.

 The Zenbook UX31E is expected to be available in a store near you by the third week of December. Asus’ country head Alex Huang said that Asus would launch Zenbooks with lowered specs and price by early 2012.

Earlier this year, Intel had announced the concept of ultrabook and reportedly contributed around US$300 million towards its development. With the ultrabook category Intel is expecting to allure users away from tablets and provide stiff competition to Apple’s MacBook Air.
